At the Helm

Randall has decades of international sailing, skippering and teaching under his belt, and a genuine passion to help others connect with sailing on Lake Wanaka. Randall imbues the joy of the outdoors into anyone with who he spends time with. Add to that over 15 years of facilitating Outward Bound programs and mountain guiding for Alpine Ascents International and Mountain Spirit, and you have the opportunity for a rich journey or companionable company.

Randall has been a qualified skipper through the U.S. Coast Guard since 1984 and more recently with Maritime New Zealand. He speaks fluent French, German, Spanish, a little bit of English and just enough Quechua to get him into trouble.

Astrolabe II
Noelex 25 Mono-hull Yacht

It’s stable, comfortable, sails well,  and was made right here in New Zealand. She was “built to survey” which means the yacht has been constructed with commercial charter in mind. We have recently spiffed her up with lots of upgrades and maintenance. Fully self-contained with its own kitchen and toilet, the yacht is still small enough to moor close to the beach and the large cockpit area is perfect for soaking up the sun.
